Eligibility Criteria


Before starting the application process, ensure that the candidate meets the following eligibility requirements:


1. Teachers: Must have completed at least 10 years of regular service in a CBSE-affiliated school.

2. Principals: Must have completed 10 years of regular service as a teacher and 5 years as a principal in CBSE-affiliated schools 

3. Retired Teachers/Principals: Those who retired are also eligible; look at the notification for the year of retirement 

4. Category Restriction: Principals cannot apply under the "Teacher" category, and each applicant can apply under only one category.


Application Process


1. Online Registration:


• Visit the official CBSE website at cbse.nic.in or cbseacademic.nic.in.

• Look for the tab related to the National Awards for Teachers and click on the registration link.

• Fill out the registration form with the required details.


2. Documentation: Prepare the following documents in advance, as they need to be uploaded during the online application process:


Undertaking: A statement confirming that all information provided is accurate and all documents are genuine.

Recommendation Letters: These should include continuous service records and vigilance clearance, verified by the school's manager.

Educational Certificates: Scanned copies of Class 10, 12, Graduation, Post-Graduation, and professional qualification certificates.

Class Results: Performance records in board/school examinations.


3. Selection Criteria: The selection will be based on a detailed evaluation of the applicant's qualifications, contributions, and achievements. The criteria include:


Academic and Professional Qualifications: Marks in academic and professional degrees.

Scholarly Contributions: Articles published, books edited, or research conducted.

Mentoring and Professional Development: Activities related to mentoring colleagues and continuous professional development.

Community Contributions: Participation in community development activities.

Honors and Recognition: Awards and recognitions received at various levels.

Teaching Effectiveness: Innovative teaching methods, assessment practices, and student performance.


1. Shortlisting and Final Selection:

• The CBSE will shortlist 24 top-scoring candidates based on the evaluation criteria. If there is a tie, CBSE may use alternative criteria to finalize the merit list.

• Shortlisted candidates will be given two days to upload their verified documents.

• The National Level Scrutiny Committee will further shortlist applicants and invite them for an interactive session to finalize the six nominations.
